Xperia Play, The First PlayStation Phone

After the emergence of mobile PlayStation video on YouTube some time ago, finally Sony Ericsson (SE) actually release a phone that is now called Xperia Play.

PlayStation phone is finally officially introduced the SE together with the event Mobile World Congress 2011 (MWC 2011) in Barcelona. As reported by Neowin, Monday (02/14/2011), Xperia Play will unify the quality of PlayStation games,with the Android OS.

Sony Ericsson confirms that they will introduce the first PlayStation mobile phone through operator Verizon Wireless, next April.

When used in portrait mode, the Xperia Play has the look like another Android phone, with a 5 megapixel camera, as well as multi-touch touch screen 4 inch 480x584 pixel resolution. The difference is, this phone has a keypad like a PlayStation game with the X button, box, triangle and O on the right side.

From the 'innards', Xperia Play embedded processor 1 Ghz made by Qualcomm's Snapdragon.

Adreno GPU have been equipped in this products. As Sony claim, with the GPU, Xperia Play is capable  for displaying graphics games at 60 fps, and claimed able to be better for conserve battery life.

With this, the Xperia Play became the first handset with PlayStation certification. This means that products with this certification can access content PlaySation exclusively through a portal called the PlayStation Suite, which is scheduled for release next year.

Some game developers such as EA, Gameloft is currently producing games such as Need for Speed, Sims 3, Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed.
The phone also supports multiple applications in the Android Market. This means that users do not need to wait for these games from the PlayStation exclusive Suite, before actually implemented next year.

Licenses for the PlayStation phone will not be monopolized entirely by Sony Ericsson, so that other companies can also make a similar phone. But Sony Ericsson's profits for the first launch.

Sony Ericsson's CEO Bert Nordberg demonstrate these phones in Barcelona, one day before the event Mobile World Congress in there.
