Solid state drive (SSD) smallest based USB 3.0 has been launched into the market by LaCie and named FastKey because only a small thumb-sized adults, but much thinner.
FastKey also be considered one of the first USB 3.0-based thumbdrive. Most thumbdrive in the market only supports USB 2.0 is much slower.
LaCie claims that the new FastKey can provide speeds up to 260MBps, which means it can transfer the entire contents of the CD (about 700MB) in less than 3 seconds.
To achieve this performance, according to LaCie, the drive combines the performance of SSD, USB 3.0, and the cache DRAM technology.
LaCie FastKey comes in an aluminum casing and offers the largest capacity of 128GB, which is about half of the largest-capacity SSD in the market, the Samsung 470. With a size of only 1.1 inches by 4.1 inches by 0.4 inches, and weighs less than 1.2 ounces, the drive is small enough to be tied to a keychain for on-the-go use.
LaCie says that Fastkey also uses 256-bit AES encryption to protect your data in case of loss or theft. This is a good idea considering the device is rather interesting for the unique design and characteristics.
